My Go To Foundation...

Hi lovelies,
I always find myself searching for my "holy grail" foundation. One that offers me a medium but buildable coverage, that's not too matte and is also long-lasting. I'm usually a MAC girl at heart and their Studio Fix Fluid is always in my stash, however, recently I was finding that it just wasn't working for me.

My brother recently got married and when I was told I was in charge of the make-up duties I was extremely excited and saw it as an opportunity to try different products. We needed to find the perfect foundation for the wedding day, one with a flawless finish and that didn't flash back on photos. *Ghost face argh*

After carrying out some research on the net and listening to peoples recommendations, the Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup kept cropping up so I had to try it! The foundation is described as a "worry-free, long-wearing foundation that stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity, nonstop activity" and I totally agree with this! It stayed on my face all day at the wedding and barely needed touching up!

I've been using this foundation for a few weeks now and I can honestly say I am in love with it! As the coverage is buildable, I can achieve a lighter coverage in the week and build it up to a full coverage at weekends.

My skin type is normal to dry and a little sensitive so I don't usually like foundations with a full matte finish as I feel it can make my skin look dry and tight. This foundation is oil-free with a semi-matte finish so I was surprised I loved it so much, but it's long-lasting and not at all drying on my skin. The formula can seem a little thick at first but once you get the hang of applying it, it's not an issue. I prefer to apply the product with a foundation brush (any will do!) and then buff it into my skin with the Illamasqua Blusher Brush, its amazing for achieving that flawless finish! The product is also fragrance-free and non-acnegenic and when I realised this I loved it even more! Most fragranced foundations I have previously tried either break me out or irritate my skin due to it being sensitive. *cry*

For people who prefer the more dewy look to their skin I maybe wouldn't recommend this foundation to you due to the semi-matte finish, however, if you are looking for a long-lasting foundation with a flawless finish I would definitely go grab this one off the shelves!

So this foundation is a winner for me! I'd love to know what your go to foundations are <3

  2. This sounds like a must-try for me, as I have sensitive skin and have a lot of spots I want to cover!
